It's pretty simple really. The trigger wheel at the end of the crankshaft on the left side that triggers the spark plugs also triggers the injectors. The duration of the injector pulse is either determined by feedback from the O2 sensors (closed loop) or at idle and higher throttle settings (open loop) by settings predetermined at the factory.

fpont, sorry for the trouble you're having on your ride brother. That's the kind of problem all of us FI R* riders never welcome having. Do you know if the dealer checked the Injection System fuse and injection system relay. Pretty sure the pump operates independent of them. If so, you could have fuel pressure but still have injectors staying open circuit. I could be wrong. just looking at the schematic it looks possible. I certainly hope the injectors you purchase solves the problem, but for sure at least flush your tank and lines well before giving it a go.

They installed the injectors I got from Bike Strippers and it started, but ran poorly with a lot of smoke. They drained the tank and put new fuel in. The motor oil apparently smelled like gas so they changed it. I drove it home and I couldn't be happier There are a lot of question as to what caused the problem but I'm happy.

My guess is that bad fuel damaged the injectors allowing extra gas to enter the combustion chamber and run past the rings contaminating the motor oil.

Glad to hear the injectors are solving the problem.

You might run some fuel stabilizer in with your first tank or two.

Unless you've already run a tank of gas out.. then just ride on!
