I've changed the pump in my 2010 and in my 2013, it is easy to get the assy apart and replace the pump. Quantum is the only place I could find the pump. Call them to order, their website pump number isn't correct. It wasn't when I got my last one.

Its been 3 week and 5 days since I first posted and I'm still not riding. Its been with a Yamaha dealer for 2 and a half weeks. After 2 week they told me I needed new injectors. I questioned how 2 injectors just go bad and they admitted it was strange. But the engine is not getting fuel and they get electric pulse in the connectors to the injectors. So it makes sense to me that I need injectors. Today, 3 days after they told me I needed injectors they said they are back ordered and cannot get them until Aug 23, from Japan. I did check with another Yamaha dealer and they told me the same thing. I called several online suppliers and they are closed since I'm on the west coast. I will have to wait until tomorrow.

I'm with you about it not being the injectors. There is a built in diagnostic test that lets you actually hear them working. Question: do you hear the pump whine when the key is first turned on? It should always do that because it building pressure to over 100 psi which is reduced at the pressure regulator.
I've never heard of all the injectors going bad on an engine at the same time. I would want to make sure they weren't going to charge me for them if that wasn't the problem. With the Yamaha manual these checks aren't that difficult to do. Good luck. |

The service dept. guy said they checked the fuel pump pressure and it was OK. Since the injectors are back ordered until Aug 23 I looked on Ebay and found a pair from a 2012 with 40000 miles on it from Bike Strippers. I'll call the service department when it opens today to see if they can cancel their order or if I am on the hook for 2 new injectors. Either way I just want to be riding again. I went with express shipping from Bike Strippers so I should get the injectors Monday. I also ordered Orings from Bike Bandit with express shipping...it cost more than the Orings.

+1 and I mean VERY SCEPTICAL!!!! As in they are full of shit!!! Is there a fuse or relay that the injectors rely on for power separate from other bike functions. Seems more likely to me than coincidentally both injectors going bad at the same time. Then there is the, do the injectors have the proper signal going to them but they are both plugged up from a bad batch of gas??? I have experienced a bad batch of gas due to the wrong type of suction pipe installed in an in ground tank at the fuel station breaking up rust from inside the pipe and totally destroying injectors and pumps on vehicles at my workplace. They were dropping like flies before we had a change to shut down the fueling station causing the issue.

I'm also thinking "something that controls the injectors" because it makes no sense for two injectors to blink out simultaneous. You mentioned crazy needle sweeping initially when this went south. i'm no expert but it's starting to sound like some sort of pc-board or injector controller type malfunction. But as davej said about bad gas, I'm sure bad gas could screw up some injectors pretty fast too. water in the system will cause all sorts of problems. If the problem ends up being bad injectors I would definitely purge your fuel system well.

This was exactly my line of thinking. Not knowing what sensors contribute to the injector signal and not knowing how to test most of the sensors lead me to give in and take it to the dealer. No gas is the problem and the fuel pump checks out ok and they get signals from the injector harness. Still skeptical, but injectors sounds like a good place to start.
Hopefully I will have good news by Tuesday.
