I have 2 pals who bought a new HD each. Total of both bikes without add on's, $52,000.00. Myself and a pal bought Road Stars. I got a total of $9500.00, my pal $2400.00. Total $11,900.00. All of us are happy with our rides. If I could afford it, would buy a new Road Star, but mine works like new, looks new and sounds new. The new HD's appear reliable but for 26K I'll pass.

I bought mine new in 2000 for just over 10 k, I used to tell the HD guys when the razing started, I can buy two of mine verses one of yours, and still have add cash too boot.... The typical throat clearing...." Weeeellll....." Followed buy silence lol

If I'm correct, HD had fuel injection on their bikes before Yamaha did on the Road Star. They've also got ABS and security systems. The only thing that Star has had longer is liquid cooling. We really can't slight Harley on their design, despite the cost of a model with that tech in it.

But yes, they definitely have inflated prices. Their reliability may have improved, but only if you leave them stock and most guys cannot do that because they need more power. That's where it all goes awry.

I would love to have an HD in my stable, a couple actually, but I'd rather save my money and have a bike I can ride day in and day out.
