Got that right!

Yea but the butt dyno feels better with 75+ HP than it does with <70hp Seriously you have an auto tune system you can put a couple 1 inch holes in the air box back and you will get even more power at no cost. Do a forum search on "poormans bak"

So, the thing here is this. Very few people have ever had good luck with remapping type doodads on the FI Roadstars. I still would like to know how to make my speedstar intake and throttle body work well in my bike. The auto tune thing in conjunction with the PCIV should work great, but I still have yet to hear of it working. Maybe one guy on here awhile ago, IIRC but I can't remember the details on that one.

How does the auto tune work? I'm assuming it ignores the stock O2 sensors and uses its own O2 sensors. If so, how did you install them? Would like all the details on this one if you have the time

Also, anyone know how the auto tune works? Is it adjusting all the time or just at cruise like the stock computer? Does it use stock, open loop settings for idle and harder throttle?

I had the 18mm Bosch O2 sensor bungs that came with the Autotune, welded in place of the bungs that came installed on the Cobra pipe. The bungs that came with the pipe were too small for even the stock sensors. $30 and that was done.

Started off with a base map from Dynojet. Was a little different setup than my bike. i had called and talked to a service rep that helped me setup everything before even installing on the bike. That was helpful.

The bike started up and was running a little rich. I rode about 100 miles making sure to NOT decel or have any load on the bike accept acceleration. Bike seemed to improve while riding. Came ho,e and plugged in to the puter. I applied the changes the Autotune made. Next ride bike was much better. Did the same again with a 300 mile ride. Felt to improve while riding. Subtle. Hard to noticed while riding. Same cautions about decel. Applied the Autotune changes and bike was really strong and smooth.

Bottom line of that is I was having great success and it is interesting to save the maps and look at the changes.

Then... it happened.

It being - An unmanned pickup rolled away from a gas pump, down a hill, and found me and my friend just sitting on our bikes in a parking lot. WHAM! 5k$ in damage to mine. They had insurance but the driver had no license, no anything. Also gave a fake name. Leave it at that.

So while in for repairs -- At ron Ayers in Greenville NC. Shout out to those folks. Awesome group!

I had them run it on the Dyno. That is where the numbers came from. The tech said my Autotune made I had been building and applied wasn't far off from the actual dyno run. That should tell you something. It works.

I tried to turn on Autotune to use with the dyon map but that says it is not a compatible configuration. Hmmmm... So my fix was to take a new base map from Dynojet, copy the info from the Dyno'd table and place into a base map that I can add Autotune. It worked and is saved.

Now to upload to the bike and ride. Only problem is I'm gonna be a wimp and wait. 40 degrees and pouring rain!

Does Autotune adjust real time on the fly? That's the big question.

The company claims it does; or do they? Once installed, the Auto Tune kit monitors the fuel mixture (by installing the included Wide Band O2 sensor in the exhaust). It then sends this information to the Power Commander V and automatically corrects it while you ride.

I seemed to think it did.

Who knows. I do know that applying the changes populated by the Autotune were substantial and made a huge difference. Pretty good if I was close to a Dyno run. Next project is to install a switch to turn off the Autotune unless I need it.

I called Dyniojet and talked to a tech. Autotune most definitely changes the bike and adjust on the fly... with the PCV. Will not adjust with the Vision. Also said a custom map shouldn't need Autotune running.

Call the mech that tuned my bike. He said turn off the Autotune unless I make a change like an BAK or different plugs or something to that affect. The map he built is custom to my setup. Took him many hours. Explains why it is running so well.

Okay so that's that.

Now since I had my bike repaired due to a runaway truck... I have a 2-1 exhaust left over. Small scratch on muffler and scratch on bottom heat shield; that was all that got replaced. Everything else is brand new still in packaging... I will take some pics and post and see what it could be worth.

The AFR on your dyno is right at the max power lean point. A little richer could help a lot for any sustained high speed running in hot weather.

What's neat is that you can turn off the injectors during decel all the way down to just above a fast idle. Cuts out any decel popping even with the AIS still connected.
