Tried to help 5 Years, 4 Months ago
I saw this couple sitting on the side of the road with there bike. The guy was working in the carb, area then he would bump start it and it would fire up and quit. The bike was an 80's vintage 250 2 cylinder of some kind too beat up to tell. Either Kaw,Suz,Yam or Hon. It had 2 CV carbs. No air cleaner just cardboard circles with holes and blue painters tape over the carb intakes. One cardboard intake cover had fallen off, reason the bike quit he was reinstalling it. He thanked me but said he was ok, I had nothing that would help other than jumper cables, his battery was low would not crank it over thats why the bump start. He thanked me again refused any help. When I came back by about 40 minutes later they were gone.

Glad you stopped. I will always stop if I see someone on the side of the road like that. Always been a false alarm on my part but you never know. I'd hate to leave someone broke down if there might be something I can do to help.

I do the same thing. Last time was on my way home from the smokey meet and greet. Seen a guy on his goldwing pulling over so i slowed down and after he looked at me i asked if all was good. He said he was good just needed to grab something from his saddlebag. So off i went

It always surprises me the people that stop to check on us when we stop for a break. Kind of makes up for the a**holes that cut you off and other stupid crap.

I have had my ride for about 5 months now . Havent rode in about 20 years . I think it is still awesome how 99% of the bikers when meeting each other on the road acknowlege each other with a hand out too the side . When i was little , people use to wave at each other in cars ! THAT HAS PASSED ! People are in to big a hurry in their cages ! I think most riders respect each other and would offer there assitance in any way they could to another rider . I am glad i can be apart of that and I would do what ever I can to help a fellow biker !

Back in July, me and 3 of my riding buddies along with 3 GW riders stopped and help push a guys car out of the oncoming lane out on Rt 30 near Ligonier, PA. He ran out of gas 1/4 of the way down the mountain and drifted into the guide rail across 2 lanes of oncoming traffic. He had a toddler and an infant in the car. We had to block traffic for about 15 min to push him across 4 lanes back to the correct side of the road and onto the shoulder. Not one cager got out of the car to help.

.......and bikers have the bad rep?!?!?!?

People go nuts chaseing down air leaks when all the parts are there with CV Carbs.Or can't make them run with Pods.

Re:Tried to help 5 Years, 4 Months ago
I've recently learned it a pretty to idea to just check and make sure everything is ok.
Recently I was pulling out of my driveway and saw what I thought was some kid fall down in road and was just laying there. I saw him go down and it was nice and slow and we live near a park so there are always kids riding skateboards and such up and down the street. I figured it didn't look to bad and the kid was just screwing around but they laid there for a little to long so I went to see if everything was ok. and HOLY CRAP it was a little old lady with a cast on from wrist to armpit and couldn't get back up because of it. Me and the guy I was with helped her to her feet and she was fine. But man did I feel like an ass for letting her lay there for those few minutes.
