Mobil one synthetic, 20w50 for v-twins.

Anything else would be uncivilized.

Mobil 1 and AmsOil 20-50 synthetic are the most often praised here. Depends on your local temperature also. I think I'll switch to 10-40 AmsOil.

Mobil 1 20w50 v-twin. No problems from 45 degrees up to 111 degrees last summer.

Wesson... it's got the most trans fats and that prevents lifter shear, which is important for these older V-Twin motors... Not to mention, it's WAY cheaper on than anything on the market and my french fries never tasted so good! They sell these 1 gallon jugs at Wallyworld for only $4.99

what about cold weather? 20w 50 is ok for 45-50 degrees riding? I prefer a 10-40 oil for mine but not sure thats recommended. 20-50 seems too thick in the cold. I'm in Montana.

40-50 degrees is no problem for the 20w50. Can't advise on what works in colder temps because it doesn't get any colder than that here.

Here's a good rule of thumb for temp ranges... Though at well above 30 degrees, 20w50 will result in certain reactions and noises in the R*... Nothing detrimental mind you. But you will hear/feel it until the engine warms up. Just don't gun a cold motor in cold weather.

Re:What kind of engine oil are you running? 2 Years ago
OK thanks Doc, seems like alot of people swear by the Mobil 1 on here. Anyone use anything besides Mobil 1 VTwin?

Seems the 10w40 has a wider temp range.....how come Roadstars need 20 weight oil, or is the 10w ok to run? just wondering. Thanks
