How many miles can you get out of the belt?? 2 Years, 8 Months ago
How many miles can a drive belt safely be ran? My bike is a '99 1600 with 42,XXX miles on it and I'm planning a couple trips this fall. I just don't want any issues on the trip. Thanks all!

Ive got 50k on mine... Still looks new. I've seen guys posting 100k+ with theirs. Oem's are pretty strong. Now, if I ever had to take the swingarm off for some reason, I would probably change it just to know thiers a new one on it. just check it out for some irregular wear marks, sides rubbing, etc.

60k on my 03's original belt. They should last well over 100K. What tends to damage these belts is running dirty, running too tight, running crooked, and chemical attack. They are also tougher than aluminum pulleys and will eat them up until the worn aluminum cuts the belt if you are running the belt too tight.

The ones I've read about having problems is from those who've removed the belt guards. The pulleys will push a stone right through the belt. Mine has 78k and still looks good.

If you're a deliberately smooth type of rider and don't dog it all the time, I wouldn't give it a second thought if everything looks good on the belt and pulleys.
