Had the same thought mulling over in my mind for 2 years, decided to go Reckless with all the bells and whistles, I do a lot of highway riding and it's enjoyable listening to tunes and not being bumped around from the wind blast....

Re:Reckless Or Not To Reckless? 11 Months, 1 Week ago
After riding for awhile with the Silverado windshield (minus the fill-in piece) I opted for a Reckless fairing. I didn't want the stereo equipment, since I'm not that into bands, etc. and didn't want to have to seek stations while riding cross-country. At the time, on their website, Reckless advertised that you could get the fairing w/o the stereo cutouts, but when I called to order as such, was informed that that option was no longer available (my guess is that their process is organized such that its like an assembly line-not doing a step upset their tempo...R-I-I-ght!) At any rate, I just us the openings to be able to stash such things as gloves, glasses(in cases), and other things I don't necessarily want to stuff in jacket pockets. If need be, you can separate the fairing halves and lay some fiberglass mat to the inside piece of the fairing and finish to your desires. AFA audio entertainment, I bought a Cardo Scala Q3 set a few years ago in anticipation of a long interstate ride with a buddy (that fell through due to the buddy's medical issues at the time). I bought it for the intercom feature, but now, when I use it, I utilize the 6 preset FM radio feature- it provides just enough entertainment for my needs. Most of the time, I'm commuting, so I don't need the distraction, and don't have to worry about someone stealing my stereo equipment.

I have all My entertainment and communications in My Helmet, and I too asked for a faring without the cutouts. Alas I got the same answer.
Well I won't keep You all waiting: Yes I dragged all the faring stuff and brought it home... The meat isn't ready yet so here is a little taste to get Your appetites ready. Here is a mockup of the rear section.....

I set it up with the stock riser first, this is with the 4" risers I had stashed.

Re:Reckless Or Not To Reckless? 11 Months ago
looking at the pic's and the real deal, I think the faring needs to come down and to the rear. I really like the position of the handlebars with the 4" risers, but I am used to the stocker. I'm still moving things around so I don't have a final configuration yet but here is what I'm working to bring together

Put the top bolt in the front hole to bring it back and slot the 2 bottom you are using now, cut the center portion out between the 2 holes to give yourself up and down adjustability.Or something like that, lol.

Re:Reckless Or Not To Reckless? 11 Months ago
thanks for the picture EZ. do you have to change out the stock risers, for the reckless to fit? I check out the reckless website and ebay regularly for roadstar fairing deals, but if I would have to change out risers to make it fit, it gets beyond my mechanical abilities, which is why i'm reluctant to make the purchase. thanks. patsyz--roadstar rider since 2008.
