Barnett Clutch Conversion 8 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I Ordered the Barnett Clutch Conversion Kit and began the dismantle of the Transmission. Was really dreading the Gasket removal part of the process. The last time I cracked the case on the right side of the bike to upgrade the magneto/charging system it took me two days of scraping (gently) to remove all of the old gasket (bike is an '02/'03)

Once I got the all of the bolts off the case the thing practically leapt into my hands and the case cover held all of the old gasket and that came off like a sticker backing. Couldn't figure out why it came off so easy and then it occurred to me that the bike had gone in for the Tranny recall and it must have been after Yamaha changed from the paper to the nylon type gaskets.

It was a pleasant surprise and now I am waiting on the kit to arrive. I gave myself a few extra days of prep for nothing, but it was nice to see the shiny smooth face on the case as opposed to a bunch of black burnt paper.

Damn Wayne, good to hear from you. Ya, jeez you got the hard part already done for you Just make sure you get the pressure plate "snapped" into the grooves of the basket before you re-assemble it.

So, Will I feel a physical "Snap" as it lines up right or is it just a guessing game and you know when the gap is at it's minimum?

it wont make a snap sound but if there is a gap just turn it till you see no gap believe me you will know when it lines up because it will be butted up against the togs.
