From middle TN. You chose a great bike. Had mine a bit over a year now awesome bike and even better group here. And yes they are nuts about the mods. So many I want on such a small wallet. LOL.

Yeah, addicting ride! Finally got into the 40's here so I took my R* out for the first long ride since buying it in January. My face hurt. Haven't grinned that big in a long time. Then, having a resource like the clinic, where they say- "been there, do this,-with pic's" has helped me big time!

Welcome to the club! Nice motor, huh? A bit of advice on your perceptions. It's cool outside. If you did not get at least 40 minutes in, you probably did not get it warm enough to properly assess the carb function. If the bike has sat for a while and was on old gas, it's perfectly feasable that it's a big part of the issue, but make sure you can get that baby all the way warmed up before you go chasing. It's air cooled, yes, but there's well over 200 pounds of metal to heat up down there before everything is on the same sheet of music. Enjoy it. You've made a big jump between those 2 bikes. Read, absorb, communicate, and get ready, because you cannot keep yourself from spending money on these babies!
And,
Welcome to the clinic. I second the points made by ACE here.
Our bikes (at least the carbuerated ones) are cold blooded. When I picked min up a few years ago I something was really wrong with it coughing, etc when it was cold outside.
Takes 'em a while to warm up, but after that...hang on for the ride.
Oh yeah...get ready to empty your wallet on modifications. It happens to all of us.
