Annual trip to ME 6 Years, 6 Months ago
|
|
Well, just sitting here doing a little bit of planning. My brother and I take an annual ride for Labor Day weekend from Buffalo to Maine and back breaking it up into around 300 mile days. Don't have a route totally picked out, we tweak it every time, just know where each day is going to end. Thursday will be Buffalo to Albany with a lunch stop at Dinosaur in Syracuse. Friday is Albany to Brunswick, Me with a side trip up vt100, cause some locals I met said its a great ride. Saturday we're going to go up to Arcadia National Park and back to Brunswick. Sunday from Brunswick to Lake Placid, NY and then back to Buffalo on Monday.
If anyone knows any good places to eat or things worth checking out in those areas, I'm open to suggestions. First long trip on the new *, can't freakin wait!!!

Gritty McDuffs...Freeport and Portland...excellent brew pub (though I do not advocate drinking and riding)

VT 100 is a good ride. I've done it many times. While your in Albany you should try to spend a little time at the NY state museum. The 911 exhibit is very moving and you can touch some of the beams and plane parts. Well worth the time.

Bentley's is definitely on the list! I'll try to get to the NYS museum too. I've actually hualed 9/11 steel twice now. Once as part of a 25 truck convoy from MD back to NYC and most recently from Kennedy Airport to a fire dept and a high school near home that were given pieces thru the artifact program. Something about just being around that stuff really gets at you.

VT 100 is one sweet ride. Never did it on a bike, but used to love running it 20 years ago in my SHO!
