Wish I had known this was coming before I bought my Vaquero left hand control. Just out of curiosity, what would you want for it? I might be able to sell my stock Vaquero control to my buddy if yours ends up being the right price.

So after all this what are you actually settled on to replace the Road Star?

There are a few bikes im looking at that i want to go ride before i decide.

Cruisers:
1. Goldwing
2. Victory Cross Country
3. Honda CTX1300

Sport touring bikes:
1. Yamaha FJR1300
2. Triumph Trophy SE
3. Modifying a stock zx14 into a touring bike (concours seat, convertibars, cruise, hard bags)

The other is strongest to weakest but that could change after the test rides.

Took a guy from Northern California on a swamp tour that had a Honda ST1300 and he loved it. Almost 8 gal gas tank. He said if he took it easy almost 400 miles on tank of gas.

The St1300 is a fantastic bike, it feels like a much lighter bike than it is. Its definitely due for an upgrade in styling and features thought.

Have you seen the new ctx1300, its growing on me man!

Do yourself a favor and go rent a StreetGlide. It's obvious that you like the look of the SG since your RS is styled after one. I moved from a RS to SG and will never go back. I love it! Handles and rides much better than my RS. Brakes better, more comfortable, faster, factory radio and cruise. Unlimited options for accessories and upgrades and best of all it will hold its value more than any other bike.
My second choice would be the Victory.

If I were looking at selling my Roadstar (yeah, right) for a different kind of bike I'd definitely go with the FJR. My brother had a 2014 before some dorkus T-boned him in a roundabout (he's ok, the bike not so much). We swapped bikes coming back from visiting the folks in Crandon WI this past summer, taking Hwy 55 through the reservation north of Shawano. The road is almost 40 miles of twisty hilly fresh laid blacktop. You can't find a better road for riding & on his FJR I felt like I was DARED to see how fast I could go through the twisties. It was normal for me to take 30mph turns at 50 or more and never once felt even remotely close to losing it. Just a total Cadillac of a bike with gobs of power & comfort to spare. Last year's cross-country Iron Butt challenge had 6 of the top 10 finishers on FJRs - that should tell you something about the bike.
