I'm running Metzeler ME 880 Marathon's and just changed the rear out a few weeks ago with 12,800 on it. There was still a little tread left on it but it was squared off and not handling well in the corners. The front still looks and handles great. But I'm only weighing in at 165 and 90% of my mileage is 60 mph highway commuting, but these are definitely MUCH better than the Continental Milestones I was running before.

There was a continental milestone on my rear when I got the bike from the PO and that thing didn't hold up well at all for me. I am thinking I should see about the same mileage as you on the rear if I stay on the track I have been on. I am 185 and I mix my riding between about 50% highway and then back roads the rest.

Shinko 777 on front with about 8,000 miles and it still looks new. Metzeler ME880 on the back with about 7,000 miles it appears to have plenty of life. The dunlop 404 I had before the ME880 only lasted about 6,000.

I am not sure how many miles are on my Shinko 777s. This is the second set on my Roadie 1600.

Like stated before in this message thread I am a big guy and really like taking advantage of the torque of these engines so my tire wear mileage may be somewhat less than others.

The thing I like more than anything about the 777s is they stick like glue when the pavement is wet. You can ride curves in the mountains during pouring rain knowing your traction will be there when you need it the most.

YMMV

I'm on my 3rd set of 777s and i LOVE them. They don't outlast the Metzlers or Michelins, around 6000-7000 miles for the rear, give or take depending on riding style, weight, etc, but as already pointed out, you literally cannot beat the price! AND *most* importantly… The handling has absolutely transformed the bike! I used to ride sport bikes so handling is important to me however, more significantly, I feel so much safer now with the 777s, than I ever did with the Bridgestones or Dunlops. Even at slow speeds when riding around town such as turning the corner at a light or in a parking lot, it just feels so much more stable and predictable which equals improved safety. And, when I want, I can seriously *rip* up the twisties, which I could never really do before the 777s. …Come to think of it, the "ripping up the twisties" probably contributes to my mileage, that an I often like to hit the rev limiter, through gears, from a standing start. I will tell you this much, there's a "fall off point" for wet traction. Once you get past the wear marks, your wet traction drops off considerably; so if you plan to do a lot of wet weather riding, don't push the mileage. But up to that point, they're great.

For what it's worth, I will *never* put another set of Bridgstones or Dunlops on the R*! Not even if you gave them to me for free. …And I don't foresee me buying any tires other than the 777s, unless Shinko comes out with something better.

06 silverado mostly riding 2up (Me & wife total 310lbs) 55-60mph ,rear approx 6k miles and front 10-12k miles.

The shinko's ride and handle very well and cost approx 1/2 of what other tries do that last approx same miles for $75-100+ more per set.

But i am going to try Mich commander 2's next time i need to buy bike tires because i am tried of frequent rear tire changes & the C2's are supposed to last 2x longer then many of the other bike tires on the market today.

Time will tell on that one.

Scott
