Bike won't start 3 Years, 7 Months ago
Had the bike running and it died on the way home from getting a state inspection. Completely disassembled and Cleaned out carb and air filter. Still won't start. I noticed on down shifting that it would die out as well. But it started every other time. Also, replaced stock pulley with a 30 tooth and when I downshift it gives a quick screech. Please anyone with feedback! It would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to leave the air filter off and check to see if fuel is even being given through the carb. Next stop are the spark plugs. I also changed the fuel filter.

How did it run before you cleaned the carb?

It was sketchy. Sounded like it wanted to die at idle but ran great at speed.

When you changed the pulley you may have left the belt a little loose Snug it up and I'm confident the screech will go away.

Tried to adjust idle. No change. Gonna check spark now. They're new plugs so who knows. Anyone know the gap? I know they should be good out of the box but I'll double check. If one plug is bad will it affect the entire motor???

Why do you have a 65 pilot jet that is WAY to rich, and a 170 DJ is way to lean. You really need to rework your jetting. Also has the AIS been removed? you may have a vacuum leak at the brass tube on the manifold or at the manifold head flanges also check you head pipes for leaks.

Got it. Thx. At the time the jetting is what the manual wanted it set to. It has been sitting cold and empty for three plus years so this has been a hassle, that's for sure. I'll take
A look at everything you all are saying. Thx a lot guys. Keep the ideas coming and yes the AIS has been removed.

Good catch Curt. One of the few times I didn't look at a profile for jetting and I should have.
