I always thought the Ultimate seat was the best looking design except for the goofy logo it would have been my 1st choice,,, but then the Erdody seats came on the scene and in both looks and reviews it seemed the hands down choice. I ordered my E.D. Designs Seat Fri. What do you guys think. Which seat is better?

First off, those seats are expensive. Good god.

I like the back rest but I hate that gay looking logo. I would order one if the logo wasn't on it. Yes, that's right, I said it, gay looking logo. lol

I knew you could order the Ultimate with no Logo but my thinking was a seat without logo is going to prolly take an extra week George of E.D. Design had my seat already made and shipped pronto.

The other thing that was a lead away from the Ultimate was that to use a driver backrest you had to use an Ultimate passenger seat,, my bikes a solo ride intentionally and I like it that way but wanted a backrest for the ocasional long haul.

No brand bashing here just personal thoughts about why I chose the one I did.

I'll post my honest feelings when its on the bike.

Heres What another member had to say

This review only applies to what I can attest to, everyone sits their saddle different, leg position, feet position, etc.

I stand 6' and weigh between 220 and 240 pounds, my inseam is a taste over 32"

I have lower back issues, and, a 4 level fusion in my neck, a bubble butt and a trick tailbone, none of which were in any kind of pain whatsoever throughout the 2000+ mile recent trip. In my estimation, after 12 hours in the saddle, it's time for anyone to get the hell off the bike, I don't care what saddle you choose.

First of all, if you are a 32" inseam or less, you will find this to be an extremely comfortable, all day saddle. I do not get off my bike to fuel up, I get off at rest stops, to eat, and, to sleep, I rest every hour, or 50 to 60 miles for at least 15 minutes. Yes, I'm a pussy, I'm not out there to set any records.

The lumbar height and angle on the saddle are to die for, and left me with no back issues or tailbone issues whatsoever.

The design of the saddle has your junk snuggled up comfortably into the horn and gets ya pretty intimate with the fuel tank, which took me a bit to get use to, but, was ok within a few minutes. My legs/floorboard ratio were very comfortable in numerous different positions. I found I cannot use my roadpegs cause I have the fastest * ever made and my feet just fly off the damned things anyway.

OK, now for the one "CON" of the saddle....the saddle was truly designed for a <32" inseam, hmmmmmm, how to explain this, well, the bottom couple inches of my ass cheeks would sit where a shorter persons legs would already be starting down to the floorboards, which would put pressure on my ass rather than my legs, if the bucket of the seat were to be a couple of inches longer (which is very doable), then I would rate this saddle as one of the best long range cruising saddles on the market.

I don't know if this review will help anyone or not, but there it is. I looked every bit as forward to getting on the bike in the morning as I did to getting off it in the evening, but, to be honest about it, I was in no appreciable pain at the end of the day. I would definitely keep the saddle and put the stock saddle back on the bike if I were to ever sell her.

The construction is very good, however, I wish the foam had the plastic layer over it so it would not get wet when raining, I do not do rain covers. The price is right and the return policy is very good. If your are less than 32" inseam, I would say, try it out, you will be suprised what a decent saddle will do for your riding enjoyment.

Once again, this is my experience, I cannot answer for anyone else

Addendum: George rung me up last evening and we had a long chat about the pluses and minus's of the saddle....he agreed and is in the process of designing 2 new saddles now for the > than 32" inseam....can't wait to try one out

Addendum #2...We also discussed the seams on the saddle....I have a hard time with sitting on side to side seams vs. length-wise seams, it feels like i'm sitting on a rope (exageration), George agrees, however, is trying to stay away as coming so close to the Ultimate saddle design, something to figure out how to eliminate the side to side stitching without infringing on someone else

[/quote]Good info, and you compare two products I wouldn't call that brand bashing.

That ultimate seat looks sweet. I have the two piece Mustang seats with a front backrest ordered. I am laid up right now with a severe lower back muscle pull as we speak I hope the new seats work out for me. The pricing seems to be similar between the two. I hope we both are happy with our purchases.

Hope you get better soon. Believe me I know what lower back pain is like. I also hope we both enjoy our new seats,

I ordered the large touring seat today. Should be in next week. I'll post a review and maybe some pix once I get a few miles on it.
