It's a stumper. There are guys like Questcap, who have done nothing other then remove the pump, and ride. I don't think he ever even swapped the needle and seat.
Was the fuel line running over, or under the manifold

Ya, your results may vary.

Tried both over and under and the results were no different.

I'm still getting variables results. Sometimes it runs evenly but other times it runs a bit rough.

Do my SVS cure and rejet. It is an 05 isn't it. Remember all the hell I had with my 05 and the ribbing I got and Graysnake and his flaming airplane crashes.

Well,.....mine haven't.

Check the vacuum port on the manifold. Make sure it is either soldered shut, or, you have verified the rubber sealing nipple is still good.
Check Curts idea, about SVS. It'd explainthe erratic running.
Dbl check the seal at the manifold flange to heads.
Revisit the torque on the exhaust flange nuts at the heads.

Re:Carb has me stumped!! 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Thank's for the suggestions SKWEARpeg.

- vacumm port is soldered shut.
- I did think it may have a bit of SVS and seems to be behaving a bit again that way. I did do three three treatments of the exhaust port area when I had the exhaust off. I have also done a tank of MMO before these problems arose and sprayed carb treatments (including Seafoam) through the carb until the engine choked.
- the manifold was sanded and is well sealed with new o-rings and Permatex. I did check it upon first startup but will check it again .. you never know.
- exhaust has been off and on a few times and it's well torqued. I can't feel or see and exhaust leaks and upon heavy decel there is no popping.

I rode in to work this AM and noticed a few things. (For reference I have the Barons's needle with clip on 4th from the top, 170 main, 37.5 pilot, PMS out 2 turns).

- Bike is cold blooded ... took quite a while this AM for it to warm up and run evenly
- Seems to excessively rich with choke out
- Runs very unevenly until warmed.
- WOT and high rev runs are strong, no hesitation, missing or fuel starvation

My impression is that I'm a bit rich. I'm first going go back to the 35 pilot and see what happens on the low end. I may also have to revisit the float level (lower it a bit).

Cold blooded until warmed up and excessively rich don't make sense. An over rich pilot would be easy starts without the choke or very little choke and not at all cold blooded cold. If it seems over rich with the choke out push it in a little.

Spraying TCE (carb cleaner) into the carb can cause O rings to swell up and get stuck or pinched.
It can also deteriorate rubber.

No matter how much carb cleaner you spray will not unclog a clogged up idle jet.
Fortunately the Roadstar idle jet is so large it is not as much problem as a 750cc bike would be .

Agree ... that's why I tore the carb completely apart at least twice and checked each passsage and jet. Changed out the idle jet the day before last when I switch carbs again and blasted it with carb cleaner .... looked OK to me.

I'd be surprised is there was any trash left but I may have to tear it down once agian to make sure.
