service stand 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
Has anyone bought one of the service stands that are on the FB page? Are they worth the money?

Post a link to it. It was probably an ad and everybody sees different ads.

How would you even get an 800 lb. bike up on that? My lift stand from Harbor Freight slides under the bike and was half the price.

I have often thought a chain hoist and some straps would work well if you have the overhead room..even the small hoists will pick up a ton and are less than 50 bucks.. best thing about it would be nothing getting in the way under the bike..

You are supposed to use your bike lift to get it on the stand. You lift your bike higher the the stand then lower it onto the stand.

Seems redundant. But I suppose the stand doesn't have the jack apparatus sticking out to the side.

I built one after using my friends peps X stand: http://www.pepsx.com

I love it and always use it to get the jack out of the way.

Much more stable. Once when my Strat was on the Jack I was wrestling a front tire on and almost pushed the bike off the jack.

Also protects my jack when washing the bike. Ruined the cylinder rusted and pitted on my last jack.

Stability is the main reason. Bike is solid as a rock on it. See pics on my Dropbox showing my Strat on it, in the mods/freedom duals folder and the steering head folder. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fd9w68l93ngp8hd/GW6rxSmfza

It's hard to see with that tray in the way, but the stand is open in the middle. You lift the bike with the jack you roll the stand it from the other side. Its frame fits around the jack. Lower the bike and pull the jack out of the way.

It looks like it's more stable than the jack, and much easier to move around.
