To PVRIDER:these are the same pics I used to mount my bags.
"Except" I dont know he made it work without spacing it away
from the Fender as I did.On the ride side I made a similar
bracket at the front to mount to.And the lower"muffler stays"
as Yamaha calls them has to be bent staight as it curves down
in the front. Also the reason I had to spacer mine out from the
fender is I used the upper yamaha mount for the bags so I could
use the bag gaurds. On the left side I was able to secure the
front mount to my RH Doolie bracket. The pic`s in the above post
were the best I found for this project with only slight modifications
for my install.

I purchased the Tour Deluxe Hard Saddlebags, Guards & Trim Rails. Yes, I would like to attach all to my ride.
What I see on those pictures, or what it likes like, is the bags are just attached to the bottom???? But then again with these pictures, he did not place a Guard. This is why I'm asking people who have rides with their Hard Saddlebags WITH Guards & Trim Rails. Once I recieve all my pieces (Mounting Brkts, etc.) I'll probably have a better view of what I should do. But just looking at pictures of Bags on and off, can get a fella a little confused. And I do understand about securing these Bags the best possible way to the frame. My Road* does Rock & Roll, so I don't want to lose these on a Highway or anywhere else.

This message is addressed to "UltraStar" I noticed the Venture Hard Saddlebags on your '2003 Road* sit a little lower then most other Venture Hard Saddlebags, when mounted on a Road*. Did you place The RoyalStar Mounting Bracket??? or did you modify a bracket giving it a very profile look. I just purchased a set of Hard Bags but still not sure of what I'd like to use in order to mount it. Any suggestions you might have would be gratly appreciated. Do have any pictures of your mounting hardware without the bags on?? If you do, would be willing to share your ideas??
Please contact me at abelmr37@sbcglobal.net or call me at 559 967-4448 (cell)
Thank you

Hi Abel
I made the brkts, I run a sheet metal shop so if I need something I can make it.I see that a lot of the guys here have used Venture brkts and it seems the way that they have done worked great but when I started to do mine I seen a Road Star with that set-up and when the bike was running the bags had the jello shacks so I made my own

Mr. Vargasdave, Do you have the Yamaha RoyalStar Hard Saddlebag Mounting Brackets on your RoadStar?? In your last responce, you indicate that you do not get the "Jello-Shake Affect".
I have the Midnight Venture Hard Saddlebags and mounting brackets, and will be putting all together soon. Can't wait.
The Mounting Brackets will be going on my Roadstar the same way that they're placed on a RoyalStar, with just a little modification on the front lower tips of the Mounting bracket.
Again, Thanks for your help and advice on the do's & don't of this project.

Yep I actually used late model(2000 up)mounting brackets and
had no problem with any holes mounting up to the 97/98 bags. The
Road Star tends to "wag its tail" when idling.Much less since I
put the bags on
