#331679 jltricities2010 (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 8 engine shuts down when i put in gear 7 Years, 2 Months ago   Hello,hoping someone could lead me in the right direction, just had a fmc118 installed (fuel management controller) installed per yamaha dealer to fix backfiring problem. Thinking mistake one. Didn't solve the backfiring problem.Read in here to pull two rubber lines to the AIS and put hex bolt in them.Did that, solved the backfire problem, but now just got home from short ride and my bike shut down. Can start in neutral, but when i shift into gear it dies.Any ideas? Stressin out here! Oh and my gas mileage seems to be very bad now!   Logged     The administrator has disabled public write access. #331680 Tusler (User) Senior Boarder Posts: 317 Re:engine shuts down when i put in gear 7 Years, 2 Months ago   Hi, I would treat this like a computer rule, when things mess up do LIFO or "Last in First out" take out the last thing done before it started messing up. In this case it sounds like the fuel management computer, I would put the system back stock and see if the problem goes away. Trace the wiring back to the connector behind the left side cover. Disconnect and discard switch. Cut the wires and splice them together. Anyway, I too am having a problem with my engine cutting out when I put the bike into gear. I cut the wires to my sidestand switch years ago but the problem has reoccurred. Any ideas?
