Hmmm. Has anyone had the elbow on the carb side of the choke cable "pop" and come loose? I think it's effecting the bike while it runs. I'm thinking of getting the Maxair choke cable but don't need to spend $80 right now

depending on which choke cable you use will depend on which choke nut to use. If using the stock carb choke cable, then use the nut from that carb. if using a Mikuni choke cable, then use the nut that came on the 42 carb. The outer diameters are different on the choke cables. I learned the hard way, ended up with a Mikuni choke cable, using the nut from stock carb, and it's sloppy, but has not caused issues as long as I get the correct layment of the cable, when and if I work on the carb, but it's been a couple yrs since I had to touch it, so all is good.

That happened to me when I was running an HSR 42. It kept the choke from opening and closing properly when the cable slid back and forth in the nut instead of the pintle moving. I got everything to set in its happy spot then secured the outside cable sheathing to keep it from moving.

No Curt, there really is no common. The yellow wire is the center tap. it is because of this wire that determines which side of the potentiometer has the greater or lesser voltage to the ignition module which causes the timing curve from CT to wot. The blue and the black are the end wires, so if mounting on left side, the potentiometer is now turning in reverse, so the end wires need to reverse, not the centebumor tap, center tap has to be the constant.

grave-topic ressurection ))

so, I finally bought mikuni. not new, but good condition.
no any information about jets, pilots, etc.
I would make rebuild and full rejet.
but what jets I need for my Roadie XV1600? (hi-flow air-filter, vance&hince classic II exhaust)
what is the starting point?
please, describe full set

main jet - ?
needle - 97, I think (98 - leanest, 96 - richer?)
pilot - ?
what else?

need set for performance, but not bad mileage. (I have 30-35 mpg city\road now with my CV carb. want to improve this)
