Why do you think it is a head gasket? Have you had the heads off? I have never heard of anyone having a head gasket leak. May be the chrome rocker cover leaking if you had it off but just leaking for no reason NO. SVS is a another thing is it running bad? If not then check the pipes with a piece of paper. Do you fill the bike with 4 quarts of oil only? A little more info and bike back ground will help.

I have not pulled the heads but it is leaking where the jug bolts together mid way up the cylinder dealer also said head gasket it is running a bit off slight loss of power and don't sound right I put a dollar bill at the end of the pipe at idle and it pulled the bill in so hard it ripped it

Well how many miles on it? Did you buy it second hand? Sounds like it is time to pull it down. Just finished mine in July before the M&G. You can do it.

Got some bikes out there with 160K on them and no where near the problems you have. You have to keep an eye on certain things and don't let them brake like the front pulley nut. My problem was one I brought on myself using my bike as a test for ported manifolds and reworked carbs for other guys. Stripped out a manifold bolt hole the threads finally just gave out. So I pulled it all the way down and redid it. I have a SVS cure that is on my site. Click the link above my sig picture and on the first page click the projects button and scroll to the bottom of the page. You can download the cure and anything else you want. BTW you have a PM.

Sounds like the ol' girl was rode hard and put away wet in its early years, and with little maintenance.

Most R*s are just getting broke in @ 50,000.

I'm at 54K and no major issues I didn't induce myself. These things have to be ridden AND cared for.
