My turn.
I'm Dave from Central and South Mississippi. I've worked in auto parts for almost 30 years (mainly Nissan) although I trained as an auto tech originally. What can I say, in Mississippi I prefer working in a/c.

I've had my bike and been here about 2 months and probably have had my tank off and carb apart a couple of dozen times already. Not to mention all the other tinkering I've done. I love to tweak and tinker. Especially on this bike. It's one of the easiest I've ever worked on.

And this is one of the best forums I've been on. Friendliest, most knowledgeable and willing to help.

Hello All, my name is John and I'm a 48 year old divorced professional guy who lives and works in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have two children, a son who's 18 and a daughter who's 16...both terrific kids. I had a cycle since I was 17, rode all through college...but sold my last bike (Suzuki Intruder 800...I thought it sucked) when my son was two. Decided to pick it again this year after prolonged fantasizing about a motorcycle trip out west...so I looked long and hard and found a '99 Silverado in great shape w/only 8200 miles and all the recall tranny and engine work done. Rides like a dream, I love it!

This is a great forum, I'm learning a lot and enjoying the hell out of it!

It's always nice to learn a little something about folks and where they come from.

Re:Please introduce yourselves!! - Again 9 Years, 9 Months ago
Yikes! I have to talk about myself? Okay, my name is Dan and I'm in love with a motorcycle. Is that wrong?

I'm 47 years old, retired from the Postal Service on disability in April, so now I have nothing to do and all the time in the world to do it. I live in Duluth, Minnesota, where men are men and so are the women. Something like that. Our riding season is extremely brief, so now that I have nothing but time on my hands, I'll actually be able to put a crapload of miles on the bike.

I have a '99 Roadstar, basically stock for the most part, with 16K miles on it. The only real issue besides being a bit dirty inside from sitting too much for the past couple of years is the rear fender. What a design nightmare that thing is. Got the cracks and plenty of them. So I recently bought a new OEM fender primed and ready to paint that came off an '04. I thought about buying all kinds of custom things to dress up the back end, but it's a nine-year-old bike with a nine-year-old paint job on it and disability retirement doesn't pay real well. So I'll go with whatever I can find, have the fender painted, bolt it on and just ride without being embarrassed that someone's going to come up and look too closely at the back end.

I've been to this site many, many times in the past for advice and a much-needed education so I thought I'd sign up. I probably won't post much. I'm not much of a mechanic except in my dreams. Although this year I did install new spark plugs, a new battery and changed the oil and filter unassisted after reading up on things here. That qualifies me as a rank amateur, I know, but for me that was an accomplishment. I do want to learn more and do more with the assistance of all the smart people here.

This is another reason I probably won't post much. I talk too much. So I'll cut it short and say thanks already for all the advice and stand by...I'll have a lot more questions in the future!

~Dan

Hello, I'm Bob and I have a drinking prob... Uh... What?!? Oh, sorry wrong clinic!

Howdy all, I'm Bob Phoenix from Fort Pierce in East-central Florida...
(North of Palm Beach and South of Daytona Beach... But, still on the Atlantic Ocean...)
At 57 I still enjoy being the class clown... and I try to make sure I do something to better anyone's day, who I happen to meet...
I've been riding since I got a Honda "50" for my 15th birthday and I've been on my '06 Star since July of '07, when I picked it up new from the local dealer... (Mrs. Bob actually made me get it...) Well, sort of... She made me buy a V-Star 1100, which we both thought would be plenty of bike, but...
(I think she saw "the writing on the wall" when it came to gas prices... And, she missed riding, a lot!

I've been a public servent for over 20 years and for the last 10, I've been a Building Official and Inspector... Now, for the first time, because of the real estate situation, I'm out of a job (and personally... Thank goodness!)
In living up to my namesake... I'm rising from the ashes of this failed economy and starting my own business in motorcycle accessory lighting... and electrical add-ons...(One door closes...) I call it BikeLightZ... (I actually launched the site yesterday... So don't be too dissapointed by the lack of content... yet!)

Even though I may not be able to bring a lot of expert "mechanical" advice to the clinic... which doesn't seem to be in short supply there anyway (There are some great mechaical minds on the clinic... ) I hope I can provide help and advice with what I know plenty of...
If you need help with electrical problems, I'll be there... computer graphics, PM me... Looking for a good laugh, count on me...
Oh, and now... If you need any after market lighting products or show lighting... I'll give you all the same deal as Clifford... Anything in the Custom Dynamics Cataloge - 10% above my cost plus shipping... (The same goes for StreetGlow LED products too...)
The Clinic is a great site and with the thousands (Yes, Thousands... I counted!) of members... It's a great on-line community and I'm proud to say, that I'm part of it!

Ride Safe!
