Now what? 6 Years, 3 Months ago   Doc, Do like Curt says, Once you have all the plugs out go to an auto parts store and buy the 14mm headed magnetic plugs to replace them with. WALA NO MORE PROBLEM. I'm hoping someone will chime in and say "yes" they've used them specifically for the drain plug. As bad as that design is, I've got to imagine there are others who have had issues with an *uber tight*, partially stripped drain plug. If I remember right you can get a socket on there but not a ratchet. If it wasn't rainingt here I'd go out and check for ya. But this sounds like Doc's beyond that cause he's already rounded the hex down on the bolt head. This is your crank case we're talking about if you mess up, not an oil pan thats fairly easily replaced. But. Now what? 6 Years, 3 Months ago   Man, that must be one tight plug. I bought a 17mm wrench at the pawn and cut a couple inches off to make it a stubby. Oil drain plug stripped! Now what? 6 Years, 3 Months ago   If the head is stripped to the point that a conventional tool (the right wrench) won't get it , you might try the chisel method. Tap the side of the head of the bolt with the chisel till it digs in enough to allow you to take a good whack or two at it. Once it bust loose , toss it and replace it with the 14mm headed one from the auto parts store. Oil changes will be easier from here on out with it. The Roadliner has 2(!) of those stupid plugs to deal with on the crankcase. BB   Logged       The administrator has disabled public write access.
