Will be getting Statoliner soon as can get foot 8 Years, 8 Months ago
control issue resolved. Hi,my name is Randy Bullard, and I'm thinking about getting a Stratoliner. I currently own a 1998 Vmax, and have been riding for over 40 years,on two continents. I live in north Florida,Jacksonville. I have two main concerns about the bike, the first is the configuration of aftermarket forward controls,or are least moving the stock controls forward a few inches and out away from bike maybe 2-3 inches as I am long (36" inseam)legged, and a size 13w shoe, and I have to contort, twist feet inward. The factory controls on any bagger are useless for me.Maybe I'll post my questions on the foot controls on the "tech" side of this forum. The more I think about it,maybe what I need is to remove the floorboards and find some kind of footpeg to go in its place, and have extensions that come out 3-4 inches further left on toe shifter, and same on brake pedal. That way I would still be able to have crash bars highway/pegs.Any question on Vmax,I'm you're man btw..Randy Second is weather the bike has any major reliability issues, including weather overheating in rear cyl area,at slow speeds in heat. I ride/accelerate hard often, and weigh over 300lbs,and with passenger/luggage will be 550-600lbs.
My phone is 904-477-3835.A phone contact would be greatly appreciated. email randy-two(AT)comcast.net.
Thank you in advance for the assistance. Randy

I don,t know about Stratoliners but BB should. I do know that My roadie is very comfortable. I have pegs on my Highway bars and I keep my legs stratched out. I,m 6.0 ft and have lomg legs. I have tried to sit on v-max and I felt like I was all scruntched up so if ya can ride that a Stratoliner ought to be cake. welcome and enjoy

Randy welcome to the Clinic!
Get in touch with BigBear here on the Clinic he has a liner, and he is not a little guy.
Jardine Performance Products has a kit to move the controls on the liner forward. BillJr here on the Clinic makes a bracket to move the controls forward on the R*, don't know if they would work on the liner.

J &p catalog has aftermarket forward controls that also move the footboard down and forward. I have a 06 strato and love it.

Re:Will be getting Statoliner soon as can get foot 8 Years, 8 Months ago
I just purchased a 08 Stratoliner S at a dealer here in Los Angeles. I am taking it in tomorrow for its first 500 mile check up. I am used to riding a 07 Honda 750 Shadow C2, this bike is a whole different ball game for me. I been looking at everything for the last 6 months and I was not really considering a Stratoliner, I wanted a Victory Vision, however the price tag on that bike made it out of reach. Dealers are going out of business here and times are just getting tuffer. You should be able to pick one up new for 12 grand or less. Thats before tax and lic. I think the gearing is a bit weird as I am not use to ratios as of yet. In city traffic there is a lot of heat that comes off the bike, I think my 750 just ran cooler as it is water cooled. The selling point for me was the Aluminum Frame which took a lot of weight off the bike, I am 5-10 and @190 pounds so getting a big bike off the kick stand was a big deal for me. Once rolling the bike feels light as a feather, corners very well and has a lot of punch.

There is some sheet metal noise coming from the front of the bike I am not sure what it is maybe the dealer can enlighten me tomorrow. Its completely stock except for the seat which I had changed before I picked it up. but I want to add driving lights-cruise control and maybe pipes. I am hopping I can get some added direction here. I also wanted a bike that had a 25 inch seat to ground height, I did have to replace the seat that dropped about a Inch or 2 which gets me to around 27 inchs, I still have to splain my legs a bit more when I come to a stop. I will be looking at other seats out there that fit my inseam better.

So far so good has lots of power and I have to keep it under 70 for the first 1,000 miles and keep the revs below 3 to let the motor break in correctly, or at least that is what I was told. I get a easy 43 MPG I am used to 50 MPG on my Honda but its all good.

hiya mate,

i have the same inseam as you, and have found the stratoliner to be perfect. the running boards are long, so a size 13 boot will have no problems.

the couple of clients i have who ride them do so in all weathers from -10c to 45ºc and have not mentioned any overheating issues.
