Headed to The Dragon on Thursday 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Yeah buddy. My birthday present to myself

Taking Thursday-Friday off work and going for a long solo ride. Gonna hang out with Loco Gringo a bit. Plan on riding the area a whole bunch on Friday/Saturday. No real routes planned, other than wanting to do the dragon at least once or twice on Friday. Just kinda want to get lost in the area and put a ton of miles on them good curvy roads.

Loco was nice enough to put me up for a couple nights too. That dude is a class act (pretty fun to hang with too).

Now, just gotta get thru these next couple days at work

Enjoy!

I thought the weather was questionable for Fri/Sat here in Tville, but perhaps you'll get a break in the Smokies!

The Roadie for sure. It's a 10 hour ride give or take just to get there. Thought about taking the R1 to the R1 forum M&G at the Dragon but I just can't see riding the street on that bike that much longer. Dragging knees on a road where there is oncoming traffic is kinda dumb, and I've done it too much.

There is a guy on the R1 forum who takes his Roadstar to all the M&G's for just that reason. He rides the advanced group at all the track days and also races a bit. Doesn't really ride the super bike on the street because it's madness to push a bike like that on a public road.

My insurance renewal is up in August and I'm really thinking to not renew the R1. It's a lot of effort to get into the suit and all the gear to ride a half hour one way to get to some decent twistys, and still have to deal with cross streets, oncoming traffic, and police.

It does look very questionable right now. Tough to plan trips months out for the weather though. Gotta just go and hope for the best. Maybe pick the best time of day to ride and spend the rest of said day sipping a cocktail with Loco

One things for sure, I'm riding the dragon rain or shine at least once or twice. It's a great ride, especially in the morning on a weekday when you have it relatively to yourself.
