I have no complaints about exhaust heat while moving. It's when I'm stopped with my foot down and those just won't quite cover the hot spot in the header's elbow.

BikerRon please see the leather is thicker that the Ebay version and if you want it long fine. You have to be mindful of the engine cooling. I can say it this way my thigh wasn't on fire. Would I ride in shorts? I'll have to test that theory.

Correct this was my answer to legs down at Stop heat and while riding with tourmaster rain suit. Awesome
So, you're saying it'll reach that far down, over the elbow to keep my leg from being branded?
I made mine so it would come down low enough to cover the bends on the pipe while stopped. I decided that I would cut big enough to cover it and see what it looked like. I figured I could always trim it back some if I thought it looked too bad. As far as letting the heat out...the "ears" gently raise out and up while going down the road. I'll probably do some kind of tooling or something to dress it up. I just haven't decided what exactly...

Not sure why, but the pic didn't upload the first time. I'll try this again.

I like the idea, but not the look. I wanted to do that a few years back but decided not to because it covered my jugs and side covers... I bet it does help for the long haul though... Glad you like them bro

The one I got from the harleyheatshields guy on ebay, is actually very good quality leather. It is extremely thick, and he customized it for me to my tastes, and I paid 60$ including shipping. I paid a little more then the ones he has listed because I wanted it fringed, studded and decorated.
I do not have a problem yet with where my exhaust is, so mine was to protect my left thigh from the top part of my rear jug at stops, I am very happy with mine and I am sure if I ever need one made longer for aftermarket exhaust I could just buy a yard of saddle leather and using my current one as a template, make a new one.
