Hey Mr. Cancilla. Do you have drawings or specs of the mounting bracket you made? How thick was the material used for the bracket?
I've got the filter but want to fab the bracket before I start disassembling.

I ordered the filter came out to $44.53. I imagine after purchasing the piece of metal and hardware it will come out to around $50 and some change. Looks great and cleaned up that area of the engine on your bike.

I'm spreading myself to thin! I have a new job that takes alot of my time plus I'm knee deep in a kitchen remodel, along with volunteer work on the weekend! Unfortunately, the tech tip is last on my list right now! There is enough info on here for anyone wanting the mod for the time being. Oh yeah...and I'm coordinating the banquet for my bowling league. When is Valentine's Day? Oh crap! I missed it again!

Re:Air cleaner pics & info! Questions Questions 10 Years ago
I have Mr. C's K & N filter but there were no instructions with it. Do I knock out the hole in the back to put the air tube in?

Thanks

That would depend on weather you want to vent the crank case into the carb or not..I prefer not to, as it can gunk up the carb and filter...You can extend that hose back and down to the ground.

I am installing the K&N intake filter as per Mr. Cancilla and have a few questions:

1. What’s the best method to secure the mounting brackets to the filter? I assume stainless steel screws with nylock nuts? Or will some type of self-tapping screw work? Id rather not have hardware on the clean side of the filter.

2. I set up the PCV hose with a plastic fuel filter and plan to leave the filter up under the tank. I will change it every couple of years or if it gets dirty. Does anyone see any problems with that?

3.The original set up of stock air breather has a small hose coming off the left side top of the carb that feeds down to the outside back of the breather. It's just a direct vent to atmosphere. Do I need to run a new hose somewhere, or would it be all right left alone?

I am using 2 stainless steel brackets (one for each side of K&N filter) to secure the filter to the cylinders. I'll try and attach a link to a pic. Hope it works.

To lazy to measure but might be the same size of a derby cover. There are endless designs out there, just a thought.
