I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction? I have a 2006 roadstar with van/hines short pipes with no saddle bags. I want that bagger look but don't want the bike to look crazy without some preferences from the experts. Any suggestions on bags and pipes. Thanks

I think it really depends on how much money you want to spend, there are so many options out there on saddlebags.

Hey hotballz72
Kinda a personal preference thing. Really depends on what you like the best.
Take your time, and make the right decisions the first time. A lot cheaper this way!!

Wasn't really sure from your post if you were wanting to keep your short shots or not.

Do you like the pipes on both sides of bike, or both on the right side?

With the Over/Under straight exhaust, you have several choices, but some bags seem to sit too high, because of bags needing to be mounted higher. Need a shorter bag.
A good example of this combo working, is Firemans bike, think he has the stock Road* bags, but there are several others here also, that have made this combo look great.

With the Over/Under curved exhaust, because of the exhaust being thrown downward, you are able to have the taller bags. Not sure if your short shots would work with these or not. May still have to mount the bags higher.

If you like the Dooley look, you can also have a taller bag. You have fewer choices for this type exhaust.
Roadhouse Dooleys, Freedom Performance True Duels, Bassani Tru Duels, Hackers Tru-Duels

A couple of the taller bags are the Royal Star Venture/Tour Deluxe bags, and the HD bags. I think the HD bags are probably the least expensive way to go of these two choices, because of there being more available. The Venture bags can run into some real money if you get a set that doesn't have all the lock and key.

Again, take your time, until you decide what style is YOU. Then explore your options.
What I did was to get a cheaper set of throw over bags, until I decided which style I wanted to go with.
Even then I had to switch from forward opening to side opening bags, when I decided to go with a bigger tour trunk.
