I have the 2-1-2 Megacone. I like it a lot, sound and looks. I'll try to help if you have any specific questions.

Do a search here for speedstar exhaust. You'll find some stuff to read.

Just ordered a set of drag pipes for my 08. Yamaha went up on the price for pipes for the 08.

There are so many good exhausts for the Roadstar, go with what you would really like to see and/or hear.

When I bought my R* 1 year ago, a Yamaha tech friend told me I should go with a tapered tip Sportster style exhaust. I immediately found a Santee brand system exactly as he described, on eBay for $170.

I mounted it this Spring, and it sounds like (can I say this?) Milwaukee, and cut probably 20lbs or more off my bike.

I'd post a pic, but I still haven't figured out how... but I'm so techno-illiterate, that's no surprise. Now that I know they should be no more than 450x450, I'll see if my son can get it up.

My point is: Any factory Yamaha exhaust is bound to be both more restrictive in backpressure and sound than you are likely to prefer.

I have the Speedstar Long Drag Pipes. I like them, I don't think they are too loud (neighbors might think different)

I see some talk about pipes and baffles and loud pipes. I have the speedstar 2-1 megacone and love the looks and sound most of the time but can get a bit harsh at times. Anyone have an idea for making baffles to quiet them just a bit?

I have the Speedstar long drag pipes on my '08. They are a little loud but I like them just the same. You can't beat Yamaha quality!
