i was wondering if i have to rejet my carb since i changed out my stock air filter? i put in a k & n filter. i have a 2006 roadstar 10,000 miles and it's pretty stock. vance and hines short pipes.

To the best of my knowledge, no. With a K&N it'll be the last air filter you'll buy. One K&N = 2 stock ones price wise. The stock filters are pretty much good for a couple average riding seasons. But if you want to get more out of your ride a porting and rejet will really do the trick. But that's on another post. BTW

if it's in the stock housing, then no. it's not the filter that is restrictive, it's the housing. but the K&N is a cleanable filter, and should last as long as you have the bike as well.

I appreciate the answers fellas. i'm thinking about changing my short vance & hines pipes to the long ones. any suggestions on a nice set of long pipes? any rejetting of carb when switching those out? or is it swap them out and ride? thanks

I installed the Yamaha Speedstar long drag pipes p/n SPD-5VN09-90-03. They're kind of loud but I like them!
You can see them in my sig picture. I think there is a set for sale in the Forum classified's.

did u have to do any rejetting or do u just put them on and go? those r for a 08-09' roadstar, i have an 06'.
