Nitrogen filled tires 8 Years, 9 Months ago
Went to a BBQ today held by the local ABATE chapter in S.Florida. There was a vendor there doing NITRO fill for bike tires today and the cost was $10.00 per bike. A great price for Nitrogen, I've seen it as high as $20.00 per tire but never did it on my R*. So they fill mine and I take it for a short ride up the road for a mile or so. All I can say is WOW !!! What a big difference. If you have not done this already make sure you do. Tires will not loose pressure as fast as air, run cooler, smoother ride and last up to 3K miles longer then air filled tires.

I agree with you, I did my tires about a month ago and noticed a difference in the ride. Also heard it would increase life of tire.

Does anybody know of nitrogen being sold in small canisters that a person can put in his roadie rather than going to someone to have it done for you?

I got the local tire shop to do mine a couple of days before the trip to Lake of the Ozarks, checked the pressure when I got back (2500 miles) and it has not moved. I also added the Dyna Beads for balance. SMOOTH ride! Nitrogen for both tires, $5.35 total!

do they vaccume down the tire's volume prior to?

race cars use nitrogen in tires instead of shop air because;
#1 greater thermal stability,
#2 contains no moisture,
#3 readily available

don't forget, regular air we breath is ~79% Nitrogen

My local shop uses nitro on all tubless tires - regular old air on tube tires. I'm guessing your answer to whether nitro makes a difference in tube tires is in there somewhere.
