Thanks guys. I'm gonna guess it's just the alignment. I did notice the bike tracking weird when I was taking a corner a while back. Nothing serious, just a little hopping on some tighter corners. I've been thinking a pothole I hit a while back f'd it up a little. My solution is to tough it out for this season, then get new tires next year and align them then.

Wheel will not go out of alignment unless you moved the screws.You can do a simple chalk test to check for tire scalloping.

I would lean tword the tires. I replaced the originals at 6,000 and they were pretty well down but they still looked decent. The new tires made a HUGE difference in handeling. You can check the bearings easily when the tires are being done

Very common.. Myne always does that with a worn tire, New tire and he wobble goes away.

Sounds like a lot of us have had similar problems from time to time. Last time I had the problem, believe it or not, it cleared up after I replaced my worn rear tire!

Had similar symptom recently, but only until I replaced hands on handlebars again...then when I took them off the second and third time...the wobbling stopped. I had an 87 wing that did it once real bad at lower speeds and found it was a front tire very much under inflated. Air and it went away.
P.S. oh yea, I don't make a habit riding with no hands either but do like to take hand pressure off grips periodically to test for wobbling and steering..

Had the same exact thing going on last week. Let off on the bars at lower speeds and she started shaking. My bearings had no play in them, but the front end was just really loose. Dealership snugged up the nut up top, and it took care of it. My Metzeler had about 4500 miles on it with no cupping. General consensus seems to be Tire, underinflation, bad bearing, or adjustment needed. Hope you get 'er figured out!  |
