Heck if that's the subject, i can't imagine anybody thinking that they are safer without a helment. We could go to the little corners of our house and never leave and be safer yet, but why would you want to live without enjoying life to the fullest. I want to slide into the gates of heaven, helment free, reving my engine and tell Saint Peter,'Man what a ride'.

Actually the discussion was about if it's safer to ride with a helmet on or not, the "Choice" is not the discussion. I think too many people think they are safer without one, that's what the stats were that Glen was trying to point out.

What is the point of doing something if someone's going to tell you how to do it? I will not be on the bike without some form of head gear, law or not. Whether it's going to save me, or just give Heidi the ability to give me one last kiss before they close the casket is irrelevant. Any little thing you can do to give you the edge on surviving you should do. As Molly Hatchet so eloquently put it, of course, it's your choice to "flirt with disaster", but I've never heard anyone say "hope you die"... usually it's "ride safe". For me, that means CHOOSING to wear at least my half helmet, leather vest, Draggin jeans, and full boots, but I will wear a draggin shirt with something cotton under it if it's not 100 degrees out, and full leather jacket with CE when there's a chill.

If you don't wear a full helmet, why? I have zero obstruction of my field of view in my Scorpion. I prefer the half helmet because I like the breeze and the feel of the open road, but I wear the most gear I can without being uncomfortable, all the time.

I read an interesting article about rider safety a month or so ago. In the article, Sonny Barger, the former president of the Hells Angels, said he wears a helmet, boots, jacket and gloves every time he rides. Even it is only to the corner store and no matter the weather. That really surprised me, Sonny being the wild man that he used to be.

When you go down and sheet is scraping on the road and your head is bouncing all over the place, What you wish you had on will play in slow motion through your mind.

I had to ride to work last night with a Full Face, I felt like an invincible tank, Half Lid I feel like I have just a Jock on and no helmet I may as well be naked.

I ride all three ways, Gear is mistakenly a weather issue with me. You can hardly ever have too much on. It can hurt as well as help though all depending on the type of fall.

The good thing about those Mushroom DOT half-helmets or Space Man Graphic-laden full-faced is that you won't be burdened with those sexy little trollops lookng to hitch a ride and P.O. the Missus ALL IN GOOD FUN before I spark WWIII

I know who Lazarus is. I was poking a little fun that initials don't begin with anything. Initials are initials.

I wear a helmet...It's my choice. Someday I might change my mind. I read somewhere that 75% of fatal MC accidents are the result of head injuries. It seems logical that a helmet would increase your odds of survival. Having said that, I work in an Emergency room. The last fatality from a motorcycle accident I saw involved a guy sitting at a red light that got creamed from behind by an old lady. He was wearing a helmet. It should be the riders choice, as it is here in Fla. I know a neurologist that is a biker. He wouldn't wear a helmet for anything. Says "if I'm gonna scramble 'em, I want to scramble 'em good". It's his choice too.
