That's when I do about half of my riding, I work second shift and don't get to ride much unless it's to work. I work mostly 7 days a week, so I ride when I can.

Love it at night but truthfully its the very early mornings that make it.
I've blasted across the Mojave desert on state highways (not Interstates) in the dark, with the sun slowly creeping up behind me as I split the wind in the dark....just me the bike, the sound and darkness becoming day........

Some days you\'re the bug. Some days, you\'re the windshield.

When I was younger I loved riding at night and probably still would but got a family and not worth it with all the deer around my area. I dodge them enough in the car on way home from work and there is almost a deer vs motorcycle death every week or so in my area. It is the ones you dont see that get ya! In fact just the other day a guy died when a car hit one and it flew up and hit him in the chest killing him instantly. Not worth doing that to my family .

Not anymore I also like to see the road ahead before I'm on top of something......and previously I did from work, a good 18 mile stretch down the interstate but them "wanna be" Euro racers smokin around me and the DWIs after 2300 hrs and especially 0200 hrs made me think twice when I almost got shoved off the road a couple times !

Love riding at night...different technique for riding at night though. I had a 35 MPH head on crash with a car that turned in front of me within several car lenghts of passing him. Happened so fast I never had time to even let off the throttle or even think about braking, which saved my life. I hit head on, bike stopped in front of car and I went flying and flipping. No serious injuries just two black eyes once I got home, thats when I went to the hospital, looked me over and went home. Several years until I got another street bike but not because of being affraid or anything like that just other motorcycle interests arose. I still think about that moment sometimes when approaching another car thats waiting on me to go by so they can turn...especially now more so because my wife got her a street bike and we ride together. Hard to convey the importance of being aware! aware! aware! of everything. I've most recently starting teaching her the five "Smith Principles" of driving awareness. Large commerical transportation companies utilize this system for their fleet drivers. It's proven through out the years to eliminate driver errors and increase driver awareness, anticipating potential problems and avoiding wrecks, which is the main principle of the program. She also uses it at work now and I've started teaching it to my 15 Y/O daughter. IT DOES WORK! You can never be to aware!
DAY OR NIGHT BE SAFE AND AWARE OUT THERE!
