I bought an aftermarket luggage rack for the back so I can't give my opinion of the yamaha stock luggage rack

Actually that's not true, it usually comes up in several threads a week. Not sure which is more pathetic, the bashing or the people doing the bashing.

Takes two to tango, procreate, play a duet, etc. Any more makes it redundant. Even arguments are dual sided no matter how many are involved.
