I am having trouble figuring out how to mount my bags. I picked up brackets and bags from denniskirk.com, I would think minimal modifications are required to mount. They have zipper off flaps and strings, but the flaps are like 10" long. I tried seeing about stretching them over and tying to the brackets on the other side, but that isn't working it seems. I would like to avoid drilling and screwing the leather, as they have zipper quick release to remove the bags with ease. Is anyone familiar with this? I've never installed bags before, and it came with no instructions.

You are trying to put them on under the passenger seat right? Ten inches should be sufficient. The strings tie off to the bottom of the mounts to keep them from flapping in the wind.

Saddle Bags
Sorry meant to include a link to the bags in the origional post. They're the throwover type, the left bag piece goes over and ties to the right saddlebag mount?

I'm not sure what you mean, you take the passenger seat off and place the bags on the fender and put the seat back on. There should be a string on the front and back bottom of each bag (at least that's how the one's I've seen work) that ties to the saddle bag support bars. Are your saddle bag support bars like these? |

Put it under the seat you should have more than enough length, if your worried bout the leather rubbin the paint go to any craft store and buy some felt and cut it to fit the leather cross piece then glue it on to protect paint, then your strings to keep them flapping.

The bars are more or less like that. If I just hang them over when tying the flaps together they hang to low. I want to keep them clear of my exhaust and brake rotor, but to do that I'd have to put them higher. I have the rear seat off, they're big bags, things just aren't lining up nicely. I'll snap some pictures when I get home. If I put them together like in the picture they hang way to low.

There should be several holes in the center strap to allow you to adjust the length, if not you can put more holes in it to adjust as needed.

More with the fancy boxes, thanks much! This is how I figured they were supposed to go together, but with them laced up they still hang way to low. I'm going to have to custom make something. Because they have zipper release, and because they're over sized, that oval hole that is below laces on both sides, it overlaps when they're adjusted to the proper height. I'll get out my leather punch and punch some holes so they attach properly. Thanks for the insight.
