K&N; clamp on air cleaner/filter??? 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Anyone run the bolt on K&N air cleaner/filter that mounts directly on the carb? They make several generic ones. I'm talking about the flat one. Gotta a K&N part number? Looking to replace the Kuryakyn Hypercharger on mine. It's a beast on this bobber project I'm building. I want a nice, small, flat air cleaner.

TIA

I think the two popular numbers are RA-066V and RC-1980. I have the 066v and love it. Doesn't interfere with your leg at all.

+1 on the RA-066V no additional mounts on my bike. Have been running it for 2 years now with no issues. Snugs right up on the carb. Great price too online. It weighs nothing but some do fab mounts for it.

I just bought the oval one to replace my Hypercharger. I'm just now rounding up jets and carb parts so I can get rid of the hc. I hope to get the parts soon and get started on this. If you need any part numbers let me know. A friend on here gave me all the info and how to.

You may not need to rejet depending on your current setup. I was also running the Hypercharger and swapped to a RC1980. I'm also running duals and stock intake. My jetting was done by the previous owner and was and little lean IMHO, getting around 45-49 mpgs on the highway. I didn't touch the jets and now I'm running a bit richer and closer to where it needs to be, averaging 39-42 mpgs now. I'd check your plugs before you swap, then run 50-100 miles with just the filter swapped and see how it does, and then check the plugs again and see it it needs to he rejetted.

Did you change the pilot air bleed back to the original after removing the hc?

I couldn't get any of the popular ones to clear the tank on my 2008 fuel injected Roadstar. About a half inch too tight up against the tank. Anyone else have any luck? Must be a difference between the intake and the tank spacing on carbonated vs FI bikes.
