cool did you remove all that stuff from the tank and just straight vent it, or did you leave it on?

Yes. Just leave one breather tube all others can be eliminated. It is amazing what kind of junk you can scrap in the 08s.

I just left my tank vent like it was. It's not really that noticeable on my bike anyway.

You'll want to leave those rollover valves and throw away the extra rubber vacuum plug that comes with the standard kit. The 08+ doesn't need it.

me being me (meaning not really mechanically gifted) is there anyplace that has step by step with pictures on how to remove the AIS from an '08?? I bought a block off kit, but still haven't removed it and all the instructions I can find online are for up to '04 and '07's

since it is winter and I will have time I really would like to get it off and I'm ordering my BAK soon

The only real difference in an 07 and an 08 is the AIS is electric instead of vacuum operated.
