Wow, a plate of ribs. I never got fed that well in the hospital. So, now that you have had a little time to reflect on everything, do you think you'll ride again? My wife has always maintained that if she ever went down hard she wouldn't ride again. But everyone is different in that respect. Some people say hell yes they'll ride, but when it comes to it they find they no longer have the stomach for it. Others say hell no, then after awhile when the itch doesn't go away they get back on and they are fine. You just never really know until the moment of truth.

In 1984 I went down hard also. Got hit from behind by a DUI driver at over 100 miles an hour. Miraculously only three broken ribs and a destroyed bike. I walked away as the angels were watching over me as they seem to have with you too. It took me a week to get back on to the bike much to the chagrin of my lawyer who advised me to stay off of one at least until the end of the trial of the driver that I sued.
Aside from PB's misguided understanding of the medical terms used to treat the injury I maintain that kidneys are over rated. If one is removed the other compensates by enlarging to take up the difference which is fascinating. And if chicks dig scars well then so can guys. So don't be afraid to show them with pride that comes with a well deserved respect of all who will hear your bike crash story for many years to come when we stop on the road and swap stories with you along the way.
Please get well soon and hopefully none of all this stuff is making you laugh cause that sucks more than anything with broken ribs.
