old tires 6 Years ago
Justbought a trailer for my MC (one that pulls behind the bike).Trailer is a Bushtek that looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor, however it is a 1995 year model. The tires have a date code os 065 which indicates they were made in the 6thweek of 1995.They look Great, no cracks. Trailer has been sitting in a garage for years. Should I replace the tires and tubes or just the tubes.? They are 17 years old and look new.

yup it would be the safest thing to tires are very deceiving they may look good but the petroleum products begin to waste away I believe around the 6th or 7th year. Once they begin to heat up from traveling some distance look out blowout.

If the tires have taken on kind of a lighter cast than black in places then roll them a few miles and see if they'll bloom back to black. If they won't then they'll probably start cracking pretty quick. If they do then the tires still have some of the oils left but it's still anybody's guess how long they'll last. A lot depends on how much Ozone they've been exposed to.

Popular opinion will probably be to replace the tires and tubes.

Shoot... it's not too pricey to replace 'em, and for the peace of mind, probably worth it.

I would have to agree with the change the tires advice. The last thing you would want is a trailer with a blow out swinging behind your R*. It would be a case of the tail wagging the dog. New tires is cheap insurance.
