Gas guage 6 Years, 4 Months ago
Sometimes my gas guage stays on the big "E" after a fill up. Stays on empty for 20 or 30 miles, then rises to full and is fine. Anyone else seen this?

Yes mine used to do that too. Now some times it takes a lot longer before it moves and it give the 8 light flashing that means the sensor has a problem. I just watch my mileage and it eventually come up.

Thats kind of a long time but thier made to move slow, to prevent the gauge from moving all the time on curves and such. Mine usually goes to full about a mile or two after fill up . These sending units are prone to screwing up.... it might need to be cleaned and maybe it will work a little better. Im on my 2nd .

lucky some times mine will go up to 1/4 then back down to E. I just watch my miles and get gas every 130-140.

Mine goes up really slow. Usually after a couple of miles it shows full.

when i put the new tank on, I also cleaned and did some minor adjustments to it and still i have times when it stays on empty until the next time i start it. When it works, It takes its sweet time to go to f. I think in mine, the e stands for enough

Yeah that is pretty common. If you get the itch to check out the sensor check on Curt's web page. There is an article there that gives a complete breakdown for removing the tank and then the sensor. It is possible to clean it if it is corroded.
