Carpetman is probably right. The Blue Ridge Parkway doesn't go into KY
It's in VA and NC
RonK is also right on. The deer are pretty tame there and are not really afraid. They can be seen on the road at any time. More so in the usual morning and evening hours, but I've see them out in the middle of the day. I've also ridden it at night and don't really recommend that. It is absolute darkness and critters up there at night

When we did it we more or less ignored the 45mph limit in favor of a 60mph pace. Only saw one cop all the way. That said, we should have done it in 2 days not one. It was too rushed. No time to sight see at all, but it was the only way to fit it in. It was dark when we got to the end. Really Really dark.

I looked through other posts. I know the Blue Ridge Parkway is 469 miles long. Has anybody ever ridden it from END to END?? I know length of time will vary from rider to rider but was wanting to get a actual ride estimate on how much time it takes. I'm planning on riding it from end to end sometime first of July.Be advised, the parkway changes names several times along its length. I entered it near Bardstown, KY back in 2011, and it changed names @ three or four times before I reached its southwestern-most terminus. I don't recall travel time, but I think it was @16 hrs., but part of that was due to intermittent thunderstorms- it may have been longer. A BEAUTIFUL ride
, when it wasn't raining-devoid of the heavy traffic, advertising and roadside-encroaching small towns.
What you rode was the BLUEGRASS Parkway---NOT---the BLUE RIDGE Parkway ! The Bluegrass Parkway runs from Lexington, to Elizabethtown,Ky. From Elizabethtown to Kuttawa,Ky is the West Ky Parkway--From near Kuttawa to Fulton,Ky is the Purchase Parkway.
The other 2 Parkways are the Green River Parkway from Owensboro to Bowling Green and the Daniel Boone Parkway that runs Eastward out of London,Ky.

Thanks for all the replies. And yes I know it runs between Nc and Va, I've ridden the parkways here in Ky many times, just didn't feel the need to correct that info.

Thanks, I was planning my whole trip to take 2 nights and 3 days. Just making sure I'm figuring my time right. Should be about 1,200 total miles for me. And praying for NO rain if I get to go.
2 nights and 3 days will be perfect. I road it a couple of years ago, 1 night and 2 days, and it was a little too rushed for me. I was not able to stop as often as I would have liked, time being my main problem. Enjoy. It is amazing.

I rode that segment from Afton, VA to Cherokee, NC last weekend. Got to the start right about 1pm on Saturday and then rode until probably 7pm, to stay in Tuggle's Gap. Left about 5am the next morning and got to Asheville at about 7pm. The following morning I got up and made it to Cherokee in about 4 hours.
Stopped and took a LOT of pictures, and did a number of hikes. Spent an hour or two climbing to the top of a couple peaks. Had the whole week off work so I was taking my time. You could do the trip in two days, but three worked out well for me.
Got to see a bunch of gorgeous scenery and it would be a shame to hammer through. Ended up doing 1600 miles in 4 days. Great trip. Can't wait to do the Shenandoah next time, maybe this fall.
BTW, there are two segments currently closed with detours. MP 231-235, and then somewhere in the 300s. The detours are probably 40 miles each because they have to go on US routes, but they're beautiful too.
