Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum but not to Yamahas. I currently own a Venture and I am looking into buying a Road Star. That's one reason I joined here. I would like everyone's opinion about the bike I am looking at. It is a 2001 with 4950 miles. (I will try to post pictures so you can see what it looks like.)
There are a couple of issues like the bags are shot and the windshield is useless. There are a few rust spots but nothing major. It runs good, just needs to be ridden. My question is, "how much is too much?". I believe his asking price is too much, according to KBB and NADA. Thanks for your input and I hope the attachments work...

i would not give more than bb. aslo there was a recall on the 99-03 1600s that will give you a tranny/motor rebuild for no out of pocket to you. i would ask him if it had been done already. also if it has not been done change out the oil pump gear with the better one(tha stock one is to week).

If it's the standard Roadstar the very top book would be 4300.
But if it's in the shape you describe it should be less. But like curt said it comes down to what you think.
