In actual working time not much more than 2 hours and most of that time was cleaning residual gasket material from the mated surfaces....

Wow that is a hell of a burn and that is an 05 upgraded stator. Did you replace with oem or Ricks? Also do you run a lot of elec stuff like a big amp and other elec.

I was kind of surprised too. It burned good. I used Rick's Motorsports stator rated at 31 amps.....a slight upgrade from the stock 29 for the 05. My year was the first year for the factory upgraded (and corrected imbalance) stator. I'm not too happy that this went out the way it did. Nothing really high load on this bike other than 55w running lamps. The main headlight is HID and only 35 watts.....no radio, CB, acc lights, nothing. How many people here have changed a stator on a 05 or newer bike...just curious.

I think just you. I have heard quite a few with 1600's but I can't say I have seen any 1700's that needed replaced. I'm sure there have been I just don't remember any.

I'm gonna chalk it up to a first year bug....lol

You never did say, which stator did you end up putting in the last time? Rick's? RMStater? OEM? Thanks, and glad things went smooth for you. Will be doing this myself come this winter!

Stick with the OEM stator when doing the replacement.
