Gonz, do you know who all did this? I will PM them for email addresses so I can share the google doc with them to get some sort of install instructions together. Here is what I can think of without reading 21 pages again, hence the install instructions.

i did my r* in about 4 hours total but im a bike tech and followed this subject closely purchasing everything from mc master carr ahead of time . no trips to the store at all . no issues , even with bleeding bc i had done it before at work . easiest way to remove the bushing was to drill it out with a 3/4" drill bit than youre left with the sleeve . if you have a die grinder and use a burr bit to eat through it just enough till you just touch the shock eye it will almost fall out . did mine in like 5 minutes that way .

I haven't got mine done yet but I was thinking that it would be nice to collect all the info and have someone write up a tech article and submit it. Since this seems to be a popular subject, It would be easier to access the info that way rather than plowing thru a long thread.

Any volunteers?

Can someone confirm that the GL1800 shock cannot be used with the flip and grind? I have an '02 and flipped it several years ago. The low look is the best, but I need some more spring to keep me from bottoming out. Wanted to go the GL1800 shock way instead of just adding a heavier spring...

Didn't work out here for one person that got the link in flipped. Someone correct me if I read that wrong. It's in this thread. I know it's long, but read it front to rear if you are interested in doing the swap.

Tug, I already offered to do so. I will have something together in the next week, with pictures. I will share that with the others that have done the mod so they can offer any input and changes to the final version.

mar1ey, thanks for rubbing it in! I knew there was a better way.

I don't think anyone took it that way. The process is evolving. dshingler wants to put a tech article together. I told him he could use any of the files on my photobucket that he wanted, but they are all just the shock.
We all pitch in our experience on mods, since all of us have different cat-skinning weapons to work with!

Here's a quick link to the shock pics:
