Will these hard saddlebags work? 2 Years ago
I am looking at getting some hard saddlebags for my black betty. I am not sure yet what route I will go. I like the harley bags as well as the venture bags. I would like to do as little modification as possible. From what I understand the softail brackets work on our bikes with little modification but will these work with vance and hines longshots or will the bags end up hitting the longshots? Any suggestions on what hard bags to use with the vance and hines longshots?

You'll have to mod the mount but it should work.

They will work but as said you may need to mod the bracket some but you won't know until you get them. At worse the mod would just be the mounting height that would need adjusting. Think of it like this, they fit a HD with a double pipe on the same side. Here is that same bage on the Eagles Bike but mounted with Dchopper brackets.

i own a welder and have access to a machine shop sp i appologize ahead of time . i merely trimmed off the tabs for mounting them and rewelded them in the location i needed them ( also lowered them a touch ) followed by some paint .

Those bags should work. I'm going through the same process for these bags I bought for $248 (higher now probably because of the review I did). They came with all the hardware and they are the 2014 and up style with single lever latch. The police bags and these newer style bags mount the same way with the same brackets.

I got the bags for $248 with all the hardware and they are the 2014 and up style with single lever latch.

I got these soft tail brackets at a stupid cheap price of $44 off Ebay! They are nice brackets and since you have to modify them I see no reason to pay more. I tried to get DChopper brackets but they never got back to me.

My BYOB Fender from S&S Custom Cycle was shipped yesterday I will mount the fender, then alter the bracket so the bag sit right based on my pipes and fender. Like the DChopper brackets, you will want to put a bracket around the back of your tire under the fender connecting both rear sides of the bracket to give stability. So I will have some welding to do.
