TT credits corn ethanol for his job... but, was there any other unintended consequence?

Sure was! Who needs to buy dry gas for their vehicles in the winter anymore?

The Christy Dry Gas people were right up the road here in MA. Of course, with "gas" becoming 10% alcohol, that industry went bust, and those folks all got a pink slip.

Chalk up another one for stupid gov't interference.

You can thank Bush for much of that. It's the wrong crop for the job, the Brazilians are doing it right with sugar cane.
Bush? LOL!! I've been buying ethanol blends since the 70's. I don't think Bush had anything to do with it... I think you want to blame Carter or Reagen BAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You might want to actually read some history. I was trading lots of nitrogen based fertilizer companies and made a ton of cash because of Bush. The legal requirements and percentages required were miniscule before Bush. The corn lobby has been pushing hard for a long time but percentages for domestic fuel were tiny before Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and that was a big game changer...

Try reading about it. It might help you understand the numbers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol_fuel_in_the_United_States
wiki?? hahahahahahaha... 10% ethanol/gas has been around at US gas pumps since the 70's no matter what your little wiki says
It was called GASOHOL

I noticed at LOWES today, they were selling 1 qt of gas mixed 50:1,Non ethanol for mowers/weed wackers.
I wonder if anyone is silly enough to actually buy into that for $7 per qt LOL

I tried to find you something easy to read..everything I'm saying is on the D.O.E. website, other .gov sites, plus some other trade publications that I can't share because of copyright. Plus I was there, it was big deal for those of us in those markets and it has proven itself to be true.

I realize you're either not tracking what I'm saying or not capable of understanding....I don't have any crayons or Big Chief notebook paper to make you a simple drawing but I'll try to explain to you the facts again.

FACT: Gasohol, or E10, existed but was an emerging technology in the 70s and it's use was limited and not wide spread yet, therefore it's impact on the corn and ag industry was almost nil. There was not enough used to matter in real market numbers.

If you'll remember we still had lead in gasoline in the 70's too but it was being phased out.

If you'll also remember the personal computer existed in the 70's also but how many people actually had one? VERY FEW!! How many people have one today? but it existed in the 70's by gawd!!

The Bush law REQUIRED/FORCED a helluva lot of bio fuels to be used - go read the law...go look at nitrogen volumes and pricing, corn pricing, ethanol production, etc etc etc.... THEN talk about how big an impact gasohol had in the 70's

check this commercial from 1979 Texaco only had it in 11 states. wow such huge numbers
