That whole keep one foot on the floor thing is over rated anyway, next time don't strain your self with unnecessary gymnastics.

That's what I get for doing the helocopter...

So I notched out where hte fuel pump went and attached my choke. Best place I could find to attach it, and as long as the engine isn't hot, easy to get to.

Last long ride on a hot day, when I reached down to see if the fuel filter was getting hot(see it in the picture earlier), I was able to touch it, and actually touch the fins next to it without getting a surprise. You should be fine there. Nice out of the way place.

Works like a dream. I hit it with the saw-zall first and made a tiny gap about 1/4", it is not a precision cutting tool. Then I took a grinder to it and widened it, off center so when I put the choke back with the flat spot without threads facing the notch, so when it was all the way in a quarter turn locked it in place, similar to how it is on it's original mount. Finagled the wire up over the top instead of under-neath and in front of the metal piece hanging down, to keep it out of the way. Also re-routed the wires to the carb up over the top, so you literally can't see anything down there. With the tank on, it's about 4" back from the petcock and about 1" towards the center of the bike. I can hit it from a seated position more easily than where it was originally.

SKWEARpeg,

I found this older thread with a picture of your bike and the relocation of your choke nob and the inline filter. What is the inline filter for?

If you spend some time reading about this subject, you will notice that there are times when somebody will say their bike just up and quit, or stumbled for no apparent reason. The general consensus,, was that there may have been some air bubbles from the fuel sloshing around, that got into the fuel line. The filter idea, was to give the bubbles a place to separate out, and return up to the tank. You need to get a few years back into the threads and these gems will surface.
Whether this is a real issue I don't know. It seemed like cheap security, and, Yamaha thought a fuel filter was a good idea(even though there are screens on the petcock tubes), so what could it hurt was my line of thinking..
After going pumpless, some folks get nervous, and every little hiccup, tends to get blamed on the lack of the electric fuel pump.
Some guys run no filter, and route the fuel line over the manifold instead of under like I did, and they have no problems.
