Mileage 3 Years, 10 Months ago
So I've installed the Baron's kit on my 2000 R*. Baffled long shots, high flow air cleaner, 170 main (c clip 4th groove, spacer, washer), 35 pilot, PMS 2 1/2 turns.

What is a good gas mileage (US mpg)to obtain from an R?

I've been hearing in the 50's.

Thanks
Terry

If you get 42 mpg you're doing great. I average 36
I think people who say they get 50+ need to recheck their math

Just depends on how you ride and where you ride. In town from red light to red light will be lower, highway will be a lot higher at 65 mph and the faster you go the less you get.

I got 62mpg once puttering in high gear through Yellowstone National Park with lots of downhill, best I have ever gotten!! But I’m with Tug on this one. Mid 40’s is a great average for these bike. I average between 42mpg and 45mpg.

Yamaha sends them out, expecting 36.
You should be able to do low to mid 40's if you ride decent. Depending on how you ride, and were, best case, 'you might' get close to 50.
I'm happy with 42 mixed highway and in town, without being to aggressive. A lot, depends on your riding style

If you eat the right things for lunch. Just remember to lean forward a bit in the saddle, so you don't waste it.

Have you tinkered with your carb yet, or are you still waiting for somebody to come visit?

Your MPG is being cut by bag drag! Bags in the wind are like a sheet of plywood when it comes to aerodynamics plus many are full of iron.
And yes I am now experiencing that now.

My MPG dropped when I got an accurate speedo!

Oh and Danny aren't you a scared old man anyway?

My wife is making noises that sound like "Grand Canyon", and I don't think it's something she's eaten. You just never can tell.
