here is the pic

Those bolts may go thru to where the oil is I cant tell. Try tightening them and see what happens. But the oil is behind the cover #10 and sealed with oring #50 and gasket #8 keeping cover #45 dry

But if you remove that cover you may loose a little oil when the oring separates from the inner case.

Thanks for the diagram Dave, So I just went outside and pulled the exhaust off to get a better look, and then I removed the cover. I lost a little gear oil from the separation but everything above the seal looks dry and clean.........sigh...I am going to clean that lower part of the engine with some good degreaser and then allow it to dry and then take her for a spin. I keep my baby clean all the time but its amazing how dirty she is in the spots you cant see unless you remove things haha...we will see what I can find

Just an update. I detailed my engine and dried it off. Ran it for awhile and have it seen anything yet. Hoping to take it for a spin later but I was wondering, how often should we be changing our gear oil ?

We all hate the word "leak". Me personally; I dont even like to mention it.

Problems: leaking side cover and a short inside my apes.

But heres the scenario of events:

Driving down highway, bike stalled while driving (found a wire short from extending wires for apes...no biggy), as im coasting about 30mph I try to pop the clutch to get it to start again (before I identified my short) and the back wheel chirped because it gripped the road. I get home an I notice these bolts are leaking. Did I put it under too much pressure when I popped the clutch trying to start it while coasting?

Heres the pic of the FRESH leak

What im seeking:

WTF caused that ?
Whats it called?
Is it just a gasket and whats the process to change that gasket?

I get that regularly when I over fill the funnel as I am putting in the 2 quarts. This is oil from filling up or from cleaning an open element filter. Basically anytime I spill while filling. It is tough to get all the oil down there. Or if I over do my air filter.

You have overfilled your gear case oil. Bet money if you pull the big dollar sized plug oil will run out. Tha case has three plugs a drain plug on the very bottom the big dollar sized plug to fill it with and just below the big plug is a small plug which is there to tell you when it if full enough. NEVER FILL IT TILL THE OIL RUNS OUT THE BIG PLUG.

Thanks curt, I will keep that in mind next time I do a fluid change which will be soon. I haven't touched the gear oil since I purchased it last year but I have only put on about 1000 miles. Any recommendations on gear oil?
